Post-Bris Care & Supplies
🧴 Supplies You’ll Need
You’ll need a tube of Neosporin, Bacitracin, or any triple antibiotic ointment, along with warm water for bathing.
⏰ Care Timeline
The bandage should stay in place for at least 24 hours. If it happens to fall off early and there’s no bleeding, that’s perfectly fine—there’s no need to replace it. During this time, apply ointment gently around the bandage, but do not remove or touch it directly.
Later That Day or the Next
When it’s time to bathe your baby, use warm water and gently pour it over the bandage. If the umbilical cord is still attached, bathe only the lower half of the body. The bandage should unravel and fall off naturally—either during the bath or sometime after the 24-hour mark. If it becomes dirty, simply bathe the baby again until the area is clean.
Ongoing Care
Always wash your hands thoroughly with soap before diapering. You may notice a light red tint or slight oozing in the diaper—this is normal and not a cause for concern.
📞 Questions or Concerns
If you have any questions or notice anything unusual, please don’t hesitate to contact the mohel. He will respond promptly and guide you through whatever’s needed.
